Lord Xue Ying - Chapter 444
Chapter 444 – A Prominent Technique

Xue Ying walked up to the arena and calmly stood there, facing the gray-cloaked man who had also just arrived there.
“Greetings, Dong Bo. I do hope you will go easy on me,” Yan Feng saluted without hesitation.
Xue Ying was momentarily startled before replying frankly, “Who dies and who lives is never certain in the arena battle. Don’t resent me for being merciless.”
Yan Feng awkwardly laughed.
What a joke.
With just a thousand experts from the entire Calm Sea Prefecture being selected, it meant that no more than a single person from each starfield was a ranker! How could he be careless when fighting any of these people? Would he not fall into a trap if he was too careless?
Who would have thought that this brat who cultivated for no more than 2,000 years would show no arrogance even on this Myriad Flower Feast’s arena stage. Yan Feng seemed awkward on the outside, but deep inside his heart, he had a shrewd nature. His plan was to make use of his opponent’s arrogance during the battle. Being able to rank in the top 1,000, his combat power was relatively close to an entry World Deity’s.
He was much stronger than the red-haired man, Xue Yun, from before and the rest.
“The two of you, prepare yourselves.” A golden-armored commander began operating the arrays from below the arena, and an enormous confinement array materialized around it. It was like a blanket shrouding the entire battle platform, with only a hourglass being left inside.
“Begin,” the golden-armored commander ordered.
Shua shua shua!
Without a moment’s hesitation, Yan Feng began to brandish his saber.
At that moment, a total of seven identical figures of Yan Feng moved out in different directions, seeking to attack Xue Ying.
“Hmph.” The Great Chaotic True Force within Xue Ying’s body moved into operation, and he swept his spear across once. In response to his attack, the surrounding space turned dark and crumbled apart. The surging power caused all those seven bodies of Yan Feng to turn into dust in an instant. Unlike the ranking battle, when the opponents would gradually increase in power, this stage was a straight-up battle in which people were gambling their lives! Xue Ying put his Great Chaotic True Force to use from the very start and followed up with his secret skill.
A single move was enough to shroud the surrounding space into darkness, sending it crumbling apart.
Still in his original position, Yan Feng stared at this scene with a trembling heart. He immediately shouted out, “I admit defeat!”
Ahead of him, he could see space in a range of fifty kilometers around Xue Ying having completely crumbled apart. This level of might sent his heart trembling from just watching from afar. Not only that, his illusory wind clones had actually received that power directly. They might not have been as strong as his true body, with only about 50% of its power, but even still…seven clones had been extinguished before even coming into contact with the spear.
Just how powerful was that?
It was certainly far beyond the power of a new World Deity.
“Yan Feng has admitted defeat. Dong Bo is victorious!” the golden-armored commander shouted loudly from below the stage.
In any arena battle, the victor and loser could be decided either by one side admitting defeat or either party dying during battle!
“He admitted defeat? Just like that?”
“He didn’t even truly act, right?”
“This Yan Feng guy is still in his original spot, and he merely scouted out a bit, yet he was actually frightened to that degree?”
“He was too quick to admit defeat…”
The many spectators were discussing amongst themselves.
“Idiot! That guy is truly an idiot. He didn’t even fight for real before admitting defeat.” Within the sea of spectators was a certain group of legion soldiers sitting protectively next to a silver-robed teenager. He was none other than General Ying, who showed a cold and scheming expression. With three more years having passed since that event, General Ying’s eyes were now even more terrifying and evil, but he could still maintain some fundamental degree of calmness.
“Is there really nobody in that group who has strength enough to defeat this Dong Bo? Or at least give him a hard time?” General Ying felt displeased at how the battles were going.
Of course, he was against Dong Bo winning.
In the first place, he was too dazzling and too young! Anyone could easily tell he would have an immeasurable potential in the future. General Ying, however, had reached the final moments of his life, and even whatever power he had was not gained through personal strength but by means of his father’s help. Comparing himself to Xue Ying left General Ying even more unhappy, and his loathing for Xue Ying only further increased.
“Formidable, Xue Ying is truly formidable.”
“They didn’t even truly fight, yet his opponent was still left so frightened that he took the initiative to admit defeat.” The Deities from the Xia Clan, including Jing Qiu, were watching the battle in joy. They were standing in a certain corner in that sea of spectators.
“You are indeed formidable, Dong Bo. This Yan Feng is ashamed at being this inferior.” Back on the battle arena, Yan Feng saluted his opponent.
“Your combat power was not bad either. That cloning technique of yours is quite powerful,” Xue Ying praised. This was his honest opinion. With seven clones, all of them even higher in might than a peak Deity, Yan Feng had likely triumphed over the Fierce Shaman Warrior in no more than ten moves.
The two continued chatting as left the battle arena and returned to their original resting positions.
“The second battle,” the emissary continued from the high platform, “Drunk Guest against Cun Qing.”
Xue Ying arrived back to his original seat.
“Dong Bo, congratulations,” Seventh Mei Yu said from the side.
“I was pitted against the last placed in the ranking battle, so it was an easy victory. I estimate it should be the same for you as well.” Xue Ying laughed, while turning toward the distant arena stage. Drunk Guest and Cun Qing had already stepped up onto the platform.
The expert named Drunk Guest donned green robes, was seemingly quite old, and carried a sword on his back. For Deities, age could not be determined simply through one’s appearance. For instance, Drunk Guest had cultivated for merely 20,000 years or so.
The fight soon began, and it seemed to closely resemble the previous battle—it ended as soon as it began! The main difference was that, during this battle, the lower-ranked expert named Cun Qing had actually perished.
A single sword strike was enough to him.
“Such a fast attack.” Xue Ying’s pupils dilated at the feeling of threat. “What a terrifying technique.”
“Formidable.” Seventh Mei Yu was similarly startled.
Both of them were stunned beyond words.
Seventh Mei Yu also specialized in sword techniques. Her strikes were very fast and were clean to her heart, while her sword techniques were very close to perfection.
The Drunk Guest’s technique, however, was even simpler. It seemed like his strikes did not contain any complex mysteries inherent within, yet that simple move of his had managed to unleash such formidable power.
“Splitting Heaven?” Xue Ying mumbled.
“Right, it looks like Splitting Heaven.” Seventh Mei Yu nodded from the side. “That move contained traces of the Splitting Heaven Deity Heart.”
They had received some intelligence reports about his performance in the Starfield Selections, but during that battle, Drunk Guest had casually struck the Fierce Shaman Warrior once, causing it to crumble apart. He had not displayed any of his sword techniques.
However, during this arena battle, he brought some of his techniques out for everyone to see.
“His sword techniques focused completely back to the basics, turning them into a single sword strike. No matter who he faces, that single sword is all that matters. It’s just like splitting the heavens…a single move that no enemy can withstand.” Seventh Mei Yu sighed. “To think that his sword techniques have reached such a stage. I feel like he could grasp the grade one Deity Heart, the Splitting Heaven Deity Heart, whenever he wishes.”
“That’s an expert.” Xue Ying nodded. His position during the ranking battle was higher by one than Drunk Guest’s, but it seemed that the gap between the two of them was very small. Perhaps he could only achieve first place due to his Time Immemorial Body.
Admittedly, comparing their comprehensions of the realm, Xue Ying’s World Deity Heart brought him far beyond his opponent. Over the past few years, he had even begun pondering a new secret skill for his World Deity Heart.
In terms of his accomplishments in the Chaotic Deity Heart, however, he was a notch below the the Drunk Guest with his Splitting Heaven Deity Heart. Fighting him one-on-one would be quite taxing!
“After seeing him use that single sword strike to slap the Fierce Shaman Warrior apart during the Starfield Selections, I started to believe he specialized in strength. It would seem that his sword technique is even more terrifying instead.” Xue Ying had to admit that, if he were to fight the Drunk Guest during the arena battle, he was not sure he could achieve victory.
Very soon, the third battle begun.
The participant to come out in this third battle was the third ranker called Jiu She. He was quite different from Xue Ying and Drunk Guest, having cultivated more than five million years already.
“This, this is practically…”
“He seems even stronger than Dong Bo and Drunk Guest!”
As soon as Jiu She acted, the spectators all seemingly turned mad with cheering.
Even Xue Ying and Seventh Mei Yu were startled at what had just happened!
Jiu She had just stood there, yet as soon as the battle begun, the platform was filled with densely packed figures sharing Jiu She’s appearance, all of them fiercely hacking down at the same time! They had merely struck down using their palm, but adding up the countless figures made it so that the entire region where his opponent was located started crumbling apart. His opponent did not even get the chance to escape or to admit defeat!
Jiu She’s white hair, white robe and white brows were swaying in the wind. He stood there, grinning lightly at Xue Ying and Drunk Guest.
Being ranked first did not mean one’s combat power was the highest!
